The "Other" Memphis Music Page
Over 120 minutes of RealAudio enhanced listening

Welcome to The other Memphis Music Page!

Joe Walsh DBeaver Gentry Jones
Target Blue Beats Good Question
Shawn Lane Pete Pederson

This page is not the place to find Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Box Tops, or even Big Star.
The southern soaked cuts selected here come straight from the back streets. Most of this music
represents raw rock lifted from clubs breathing fire into the dark heart of the after-midnight
mystical Memphis music scene. Other selections come deep from the catacombs of various
songwriter's archives. All were closely guarded treasures unavailable anywhere... Until now...

JOE WALSH
Rocky Mountain Way - RealAudio 6:51
Life's Been Good To Me So Far - RealAudio 8:02
Life in the Fast Lane - RealAudio 5:35
All Of A Sudden - RealAudio 4:41
Bonus Track... Joe Walsh and Jimi Jamison!

JOE WALSH does Memphis! Once upon a time in the nineties, Joe spent a few months in Memphis
partying, romancing, recording and generally soaking up the River City vibes. Backed by
Memphis musicians, these live club tracks (captured right off the mixing console) reflect
both his sense of humor and his unmistakable styling and technique.

DBEAVER
Combinations - RealAudio 2:27
Bad Year / Anastasia / I've Had Some Time - RealAudio 3:52

DBEAVER AND COMBINATIONS was truly one of the great sleeper albums of the seventies.
Produced by Jim Johnson and DBeaver at the now defunct Trans Maximus (TMI) Studios, it
featured a whos-who of great Memphis artists including Jimi Jamison, David Mayo, Tommy Cathy,
Pat Taylor, Carl Marsh, Leo LaBlanc, J. A. Spell, Joel Williams, Steve Spear, Jimmy Tarbutton,
Reni Crook, Jackie Cook and, of course, David Beaver. This album was well ahead of the times
at its 1972 release date.

SHAWN LANE
Untitled 1 - RealAudio 4:17
One More Word - RealAudio 4:06
Untitled 2 - RealAudio 3:57
Free Wind (Illusions) - RealAudio 4:10
Devil's Triads - RealAudio 5:13
 Untitled 3 - RealAudio 3:23

SHAWN LANE, artist, composer, teacher, producer, magazine writer, and legend to
serious guitarists everywhere. This mysterious (and reclusive) artist and I worked together
for a short while back in 86 and some classic moments have been captured here on some
previously unreleased tracks. Shawn... if you're on the net, I gave you TWELVE YEARS to do
something with these songs. The world needs to hear this stuff so here it is!

TARGET
Memphis, Tennessee - RealAudio 3:03
Movin' On - RealAudio 3:16
Love That Just Won't Quit - RealAudio 3:42
Your Cash Ain't Nothin' But Trash - RealAudio 4:23

TARGET with members Jimi Jamison, Tommy Cathy, Buddy Davis, Paul Cannon & David Spain
hit the mark on the 1970's Memphis Overton Square music scene. Here are some ultra rare tracks
recorded at the High Cotton nightclub, February 1975. Recorded by Bobby Davis and Steve Cox.

GOOD QUESTION
Jane - RealAudio 3:21
Girls In Uniform - RealAudio 4:01

GOOD QUESTION led by Van Duren, these Memphis pop icons can always be found
somewhere among the club scene, performing nightly. Voted by many as the
group most likely to surprise you that they aren't already more famous!

BLUE BEATS
Happy Hooker - RealAudio 3:02
Russian Roulette - RealAudio 3:57

THE BLUEBEATS represented eighties hip, trendy music styles that they freely
fused with those ever present Memphis blues. The Bluebeats captured the
spirit of Memphis midtown yuppies-after-dark with humor intact and tounge firmly in cheek.

PETE PEDERSON
An American In Paris - RealAudio 4:45

PETE PEDERSON is one eclectic artist you really need to give a listen. An original
member of the Harmonicats, this Memphian holds the writer's pen behind
countless major advertising campaigns (Goodrich, Pontiac, McDonalds, etc)
and theme songs (Lorimar Telepictures, etc). In this selection Pete performs
Gershwin's An American In Paris on the harmonica backed by a
three piece combo. You won't believe how good this guy is!

GENTRY JONES
Working On A Dream - RealAudio 2:42

Gentry Jones is one of those Memphis musicians you've seen everywhere...
Playing bass in a local pick-up band or maybe singing at your best friend's
wedding reception. A lesser known part of Gentry is his
wonderful gift for storytelling in song. Here's an
example to set the record straight.
